  2. Score each newsletter on audience overlap, size, engagement quality, and pricing efficiency. Select the single best newsletter with 2,000-20,000 subscribers, open rate above 30%, and placement cost of $100-500.

  3. Request the media kit, negotiate a test placement rate, and book one placement in an upcoming issue.

  4. Build a UTM-tagged URL: {landing_page}?utm_source={newsletter_slug}&utm_medium=paid-newsletter&utm_campaign=newsletter-sponsorships&utm_content={newsletter_slug}-smoke-v1

  5. Write 3 blurb variants (curiosity, data-driven, problem-driven) tailored to the newsletter's tone. Select the strongest variant and submit creative by the publisher's deadline.

  6. Ensure your landing page has PostHog tracking for pageview with UTM capture and a newsletter_sponsor_lead event on CTA completion.

  7. On send day, confirm with the publisher and monitor PostHog for incoming clicks and leads in real-time.

  8. After 7 days, evaluate: total clicks, total leads, CPC, and CPL. Pass threshold: ≥ 20 clicks AND ≥ 1 lead.

  9. If PASS, document the newsletter, blurb angle, and CPC/CPL. Proceed to Baseline. If FAIL, diagnose (wrong audience, weak copy, or newsletter too small) and test a different newsletter.
