Instructions

  1. Select one premium feature to gate using the feature-readiness-gating drill.

  2. Define gate events in PostHog: gate_impression, gate_preview_engaged, gate_trial_started, gate_upgrade_clicked, gate_dismissed.

  3. Design the gate UX: locked state with value preview (screenshot/GIF/blurred real data) and two CTAs (Start 7-day trial + See pricing).

  4. Configure trial mechanism via PostHog feature flags: enable premium feature for trial users, set 7-day expiration.

  5. Set up upgrade prompts for high-engagement trial users (3+ feature uses) using upgrade-prompt drill.

  6. Launch to a small group of gate-eligible users.

  7. After 7 days, evaluate with threshold-engine: >=15% trial start or upgrade click rate AND >=60% trial engagement.

  8. If pass, proceed to Baseline; if fail, diagnose funnel (impressions, preview engagement, trial starts, trial engagement).
